Weekend pleasures collage

It's the weekend! Time to enjoy FAMILY, FRIENDS and FOOD! There's a chill in the air, so let's put the oven on for a bit!

But where to begin!? There are so many choices. Here are Barrow Bay Living's weekend choices.

Sun dried tomato brie

Sun-dried Tomato Brie

Friday night! YES! This brie appie is just 4 ingredients! Serve with your favourite rice crackers, and a platter of fresh vegetables and Easy Leek Dip (just 2 ingredients). More you say? Add Parmesan-stuffed Mushrooms, and our most recent appetizer addition, Asparagus Roll-ups. If you don't have aspargus, use large quartered dill pickles!

pancakes 3

Homemade Pancakes

On Saturday morning, there's nothing better than the rich flavour of homemade pancakes! Tip - take your egg and milk out of the refrigerator at least a half hour before making this delight. Maple Syrup is a must! Need an option for the grab and run eaters? Try our Pineapple Carrot Muffins.

ham soup with filterHam and Potato Soup

Cool Saturday comfort food, this recipe takes a bit of work. If you are short on time, choose Creamy Cauliflower Soup which is ready in 40 minutes. Top it with grated cheddar.

pasta with sausage

Tomato Sausage Pasta

This tasty pasta dish is just 4 ingredients, including the pasta! Pick up a loaf of artisan bread from the grocery, or even better, put a loaf on to bake in your breadmaker. I often make the French Bread breadmaker version, because  prep is fast - only 4 indredients. And the taste - WOW! Serve your dinner with a tossed green salad.

apple crisp

 Apple Crisp

It's apple season! Treat the whole family to this delight. My go-to apple is MacIntosh, but if you prefer a more tart dessert, use Granny Smith apples. And don't forget vanilla ice cream! Don't feel like baking? Another family favourite worth consideration this weekend is No-Bake Cherry Cheese Cake!

sage stuffed loin2

Sage-stuffed Pork Loin

Pork loin, if cooked properly, is a tender meat choice. It's also budget-friendly. Serve it with potatoes or rice, and a selection of vegetables. For a surge of flavour, add a Greek Salad! Your leftover pork will be great for Monday lunch sandwiches!

Happy weekend from Barrow Bay Living!
