This is a favourite dessert of mine from childhood. According to my mom, it was given to her by an old friend who made it often. While cooking, it smells like butter tarts! And taste? Pure heaven!

First Layer

  • ½ cup(s) butter
  • ½ cup(s) brown sugar
  • 1 cup(s) flour

Second Layer

  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 3 tablespoon(s) flour
  • 1 cup(s) brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon(s) baking powder
  • ½ cup(s) coconut
  • 1 teaspoon(s) vanilla

Dream Squares Directions

With an electric mixer, cream the butter, and then blend in ½ cup of brown sugar. Work 1 cup of flour into the mixture with a wooden spoon until it's blended. Press this into the bottom of a greased 8 inch square cake pan.

Hand mix together the eggs, 3 tablespoons of flour, 1 cup of brown sugar, baking powder, coconut and vanilla. Spread mixture evenly over the cake pan's first layer.

Bake in oven at 350°F for 40-42 minutes.
