For 4 Serving(s)

Recipe

  • 1 tablespoon(s) plus 2 teaspoon(s) cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoon(s) water
  • 1/4 teaspoon(s) salt
  • 1 1/2 lbs. beef sirloin steak, cut into 1/4-inch thick strips
  • 4 teaspoon(s) vegetable oil
  • 1 cup(s) beef broth
  • 2 tablespoon(s) soy sauce
  • 4 teaspoon(s) sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups multi-coloured peppers, chopped into 1x2-inch pieces
  • 1 medium onion, quartered
  • 1 tablespoon(s) minced fresh gingerroot
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

Ginger Beef Directions

Mix 1 tablepoon cornstarch, water and salt in a medium bowl. Add the beef and stir to coat.

In a large frypan, stir-fry the beef in 2 teaspoons vegetable oil until cooked, 5 to 6 minutes. Meanwhile, mix together broth, soy sauce, sugar and 2 teaspoons corn starch. Set aside. Remove beef from pan and set aside.

Add the peppers and onion to the pan with 2 teaspoons vegetable oil and cook for 5 minutes.

Blend in ginger and garlic. Stir the broth mixture and add it to the pan. Stirring constantly, bring the mixture to a boil and cook until it thickens. Fold in beef.

Serve with rice.
