  • 2 lbs. lean ground beef
  • 1 cup(s) chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup(s) diced green pepper
  • 1 - 796ml/28oz. tin diced tomatoes
  • 2 - 445ml/15oz. tins tomato sauce
  • 2 - 156ml/5.5z. tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup(s) beef broth
  • 1/2 cup(s) sliced olives, drained
  • 1/4 cup(s) dried parsley flakes
  • 1 tablespoon(s) dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoon(s) Italian seasoning
  • 2 teaspoon(s) minced garlic
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon(s) salt, if needed
  • 1 teaspoon(s) pepper

Classic Slowcooker Meat Sauce Directions

In a large skilled, cook the ground beef, onion and green peper until meat is no loner pink; drain.

Transfer to a 5-quart slow cooker.  Add tomatoes, and using a hand-held blender, puree the mixture to mash any chunks of meat or tomato.

Add tomato sauce, tomato paste, broth, olives, parsley, oregano, Italian seasoning, garlic, salt and pepper.  

Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours.  

Serve with your favourite pasta.

Makes 3 quarts or 2.8 litres.
